Bertram is active in his community. He has worked as an Adjunct Professor for the Rutgers Law School, and serves as a trustee for the Boards of the Learning Community Charter School, Jersey City Youth Foundation, and the Rutgers Newark Law School Alumni Association. He is also a former trustee of the Jersey City Board of Education and a former board member of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Prior to starting his own law firm, Bertram clerked at the New Jersey Superior Court for the Hon. Verna Leath in Essex County where he worked on Civil and Family case matters that came before the Court and consulted in arbitration matters. Bertram also worked for Jeffrey Cohn, Attorney at Law where he worked in defense of his clients in New York Federal, Appellate and State criminal and civil matters.
Bertram completed his undergraduate studies at Tufts University. Bertram attended Rutgers Law School and was a recipient of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey Scholarship and the Eric R. Neisser Pro Bono Service Award. While at law school, he interned at firms including Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP, in Newark, NJ and Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein, Celso & Zitomer LLC in Morristown, NJ and participated in a Judicial externship in the Civil part of the New Jersey Superior Court in Essex county.
